What is Public Health?

The CDC Foundation defines public health as the science of protecting and improving the health of people and their communities. This protection is implemented through constructing education programs, providing services to low income community members, distributing resources in rural areas, and striving to mitigate health disparities. These health disparities include disease, violence, lack of access to care and resources, poverty, mental health challenges, etc. Health disparities are commonly found in lower income and socially disadvantaged populations.
